When you think of ice cream, what comes to mind? Heaven? Yummy deliciousness? Warm summer nights and children giggling in delight? How about all of the above. I had to pleasure of interviewing local mama Abby Jordan who is the co-founder of eCreamery.
Don’t know what eCreamery is? Well, this is your lucky day. Essentially it’s yummy ice cream and gelato flavors, shipped to your door. Yup, you read that right. This is also the same eCreamery featured in People, Oprah Magazine, ESPN’s Gift Guide, Shark Tank, the list goes on and on. Not only does Abby help run an amazing e-commerce site (that SHIPS ice cream) but also a brick-and-mortar store in Omaha’s hip Dundee neighborhood.
I received some eCreamery flavors as a celebratory ‘You Just Birthed a Baby’ upon my return home for the hospital. Delivered right to my door. Pregnant women and new moms LOVE ice cream so there you have it. An awesome, unique and yummy gift idea for a new mom. You. Are. Welcome.
I was introduced to Abby during my participation with last years Straight Shot class. I was fascinated that this woman had my dream job (ice cream taste tester…Abby, I’m your girl). Side note: my second dream job is a Nail Polish Namer. But I digress. Let’s just say that Abby is a mama, takin over the ice cream world all while appearing to have her sh*t together.
Here’s Abby (literally, here’s a picture of Abby and her adorable daughter)…
Tell us about YOU. Name, family, business.
I’m Abby Jordan. I am married to Scott and we have two daughters Effie (4) and Frankie (almost 2). I am co-founder at eCreamery Ice Cream & Gelato.
How did you come up with eCreamery?
Along with our investor, we purchased a domain eCreamery.com. We rebranded it and redesigned it to be an online ice cream and gelato gift shop. It was predominantly a self purchase website and specialized in South American fruit flavors.
What is your dream job?
I can honestly say that I am living and breathing my dream job. I’m surrounded by a great team, including my amazing partner, and we are building something meaningful together.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Guilt? What’s that? I have many habits that I should probably feel guilty about but I don’t have time!!
Biggest mom guilt confession?
My kids are still young enough that they don’t always realize I am gone. I am good at distracting them with guest appearances like cousins or friends.
How do you balance work and play?
I don’t really turn work off and I don’t really turn play off. I think I look forward to work just as much as play.
Any fun life hacks you want to share (secret stain remover, how to distract a toddler for more than 2 minutes)?
I DO NOT SELL OILS! I AM NOT A DOCTOR! I use garlic oil instead of antibiotics for an ear infection. eMail me for more details.
What do you wish you would have known then, that you know now?
You can’t do it all! Prioritize and keep it simple!
What’s a picture-perfect day look like for you?
A picture perfect day has many accomplishments at home and at work. Lots of laughs, love and problem solved.
What are some of your go-to beauty products?
Bright lipstick and moisturizer.
Where do you love to shop?
Food shopping is a highlight for me. I like Le Quartier for bread & Blueline for coffee beans.
If you could give one piece of advice to another mama?
One piece of advice to another mama would be it’s a phase, it will pass.
How do you manage being a mom and a wife or partner?
Being a wife and a mom is easy to manage because I chose such a fantastic partner. Thanks, Scott!
What is your least favorite chore to do around the house?
I hate trash night. My husband took it over.
What is one thing you have had to sacrifice for the sake of motherhood?
SLEEP for goodness sake! Isn’t this everyone’s answer???
What is one question you have for other mamas out there?
The question I have for other mama’s is about social networks? How do we get them annihilated before I have teenage girls?
Amen to that mama. Huge thanks to Abby and eCreamery for being a part of our Mama Takeover series. Now go out and get a mama in your life some ice cream!
If you have any questions for Abby or myself, please comment below or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Of course, if you have any suggestions for our Mama Takeover series, we would love to hear from. You know the drill (see above).
Until next time….
